My Thoughts:

Let me just start by saying this: this is the urban fantasy you didn't know that you truly need in your library or your life.

With an impressive world building this wonderful urban fantasy story is set in the city of San Francisco with events happening all over the Bay Area. This is a world where angels, demons, witches, sorcerers and the whole paranormal shebang coexist with humans, even Loki is in this one!

Cassius, an angel ostracized by the society at large, moves to the Bay Area looking for a fresh start. He was on a "mission" to find a missing cat and with the events that happened while he was on search for the cat led him to be on the Argonauts' radar (think FBI but angels) and from then on, Cassius' new adventure begins.

What I love about this book is the writing is done in a captivating way. You can't help but turn the pages with complete disregard to decent bedtime hours because who needs sleep anyway, when you're thoroughly pissed on Cassius' behalf with the way people are treating him! The more I turn the pages, the more curious I got. I was hooked.

The connection between Morgan and Cassius was intense from the very beginning. I enjoyed how the layers unfolded and the key parts certain characters played in unfolding some of the mystery.

The action scenes are well done, the characters are fleshed out! Loki and Cassius had me laughing out loud with their chemistry. The found and chosen family element in this story is precious. I am looking forward to the next books of this series!

Also, I appreciate the Glossary of Terms. I love how the author's spin in the whole angels, demons and elementals mythology.

I'd recommend this to readers who love epic world builders like Hailey Turner & Charlie Cochet and who also enjoy steamy reads from the likes of Neve Wilder and RG Alexander. But truly, if you're an urban fantasy fan who loves a great story full of mystery, secrets, snark and steam, make sure you add Fractured Souls on your TBR list stat!

My Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ heavenly stars

blurb:

Humans are dying in San Francisco. The most shunned angel on Earth may very well hold the key as to why...

When Cassius Black moves to San Francisco for a fresh start, the angel's hopes of staying below the radar of the supernatural organizations that oversee the otherworldly and magic users in the city are dashed when he stumbles across a dead body in the sewers. His grim discovery soon puts him in the sights of the Argonaut Agency and Francis Strickland, the bureau director who knows his darkest secrets.

Morgan King and his team of Argonaut agents have been on the hunt all summer for the culprits behind a series of gruesome killings that have rocked the city. Killings that bear sinister hallmarks of human sacrificial rituals where the victims’ souls have been stolen. When Fate puts Cassius in Morgan’s path, he realizes the angel everyone likes to call The Devil may very well be the only person who can help them track down the murderers.

Morgan and Cassius soon find themselves chasing down a sect of black-magic sorcerers and crossing paths with a mysterious warlock whose actions evoke disturbing echoes of an incident from Cassius's past. As rumors of a potential plot to tear open the Nether reach their ears, Cassius and Morgan must work together to defeat their common enemy and save the city from destruction, all while fighting their growing attraction for one another.

Fractured Souls is the first novel in the MM urban fantasy series Fallen Messengers. If you like action-packed paranormal adventures with romance and snark, then grab this pulse-pounding book today and enter a world you won’t want to leave!
